At the University of Richmond, Jewish students are a welcomed part of
the Spider community. Out of nearly 2,950 undergraduate students,
approximately 4% are Jewish. Hillel is considered an integral part of the UR
Chaplaincy-working closely with both the Chaplain and the other campus
ministries.
UR Hillel provides a Jewish presence on the UR campus as it provides social, educational, religious, and cultural opportunities to Jewish students. Courses are offered by the University in Jewish studies and there is an option to complete a Jewish Studies Minor of 18 credit hours. University of Richmond students may also receive permission to attend study abroad programs in Israel.
In 2007 - 2008, there will be a
direct liaison with the community Shlicha (Emissary of Israel), Dana, and she
will work with the Hillel director to provide more outreach to Jewish
students on campus.
